The Simple Guide to Keeping Up with Exercise Goals your next Vacation

At home you stick to your workout plan and eat well enough. Fresh off plane visiting your next vacation destination, and boom... where'd your workout goals go? Relatable? Then keep reading...

Yoga is my exercise of choice. This how to guide helps merge yoga and #vacation together. Sub your workout of choice for yoga if it's not your thing. Do what works for you. Never done yoga and open to trying it? Yoga with Adriene is a great place to start. She's on YouTube and uploads free videos each week.

Ten Minutes

Each day during #travel, find a minimum of at least ten minutes dedicated to exercise. I've found the morning, before breakfast, is easiest for me.

Here's my routine:

  • Cat Cow

  • Sun Salutations

  • Moving into Vinyasa with Added Pushup

  • Child's Pose

It's simple and effective. This simple trick allows me to stay in shape during travel and allows me to get back to my routine at home quickly and easily.

What if I'm not a Morning Person?

NOT being a morning person is a trait most relate to. Most of my friends aren't morning people.

I can't relate to "not being a morning person" because I'm the weird person who willingly jumps out of bed before the sun comes up with enthusiasm...

my boyfriend; however, loves sleeping in.

He's pushed himself to exercise in the morning. As hard as he pushes, his internal clock fights back harder every time. If your body is asking you to workout at night or any other time, listen! Fit in exercise during travel at a time that works best for you.

After all, any time dedicated to self care during travel is a huge win!

What if I'm Booked Solid during Travel?

If your travel plans are booked with a heavy itinerary and obligations, see where you can add in exercise to your existing routine.

Here are some simple questions to ask yourself to determine how you can easily add exercise to your agenda during travel:

  • When can I walk, run, or bike to destinations?

  • When can I take the steps rather than using the lift/ escalator?

  • When can I stand instead of sit?

  • How important are my exercise goals to me? If the answer is "not that important" that's ok. Any time, big or small, dedicated to self care is a win for your body!

What if this sounds great, but I seriously can not find time for exercise during Travel even with these tips?!

Ok, you've considered all options and still a no go? That's ok.
